Dr Pauline Hutchinson

Dr Pauline Hutchinson, MBE

Founder, Trustee and Medical Advisor to the Board

Retired GP and founder of Medcare. The Wellspring Children’s Medical Centre was developed following a challenging visit to Kamutuuza by Dr Hutchinson in 2004, when she observed that health care for those children living in extreme poverty in the villages was often unaffordable and inaccessible, and consequently unobtainable.

On June 1st 2022, Mike was appointed as Chairman of the Medcare Board of Trustees, in the place of Dr Pauline Hutchinson, who remains on the Board as a Trustee and Medical Advisor. Following early retirement from a senior management role in the public sector in 2013, Mike worked on a consultancy basis with a number of business start-ups. In 2020 Mike became Advisor to the Medcare Board and has visited Uganda on a number of occasions. In September 2021 he was appointed Church Operations Manager at Lakes Christian Centre in Windermere, a full time role covering all aspects of operational management within a church environment including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Financial Control, IT, Human Resources and Event Management. The Board are delighted with Mike’s appointment and look forward to working with him in the future, as Medcare’s work in Uganda continues to grow and develop.
